Spinal Decompression is a procedure to relieve pressure on discs and nerves in the back or neck in a very safe way. This therapy can be used to treat herniated discs, pinched nerves in the neck or back, sciatica and other back problems. Spinal decompression uses a computer-controlled table to gently separate the bones of the spine to relieve pressure in the disc by stretching the spine and decompressing the discs. Decompression therapy allows oxygen, water and nutrient-rich fluids into the discs of the spine promoting healing and releasing pressure from pinched nerves.
The number of visits vary from patient to patient depending on the severity of their type of injury. Typically, there would be at least one or two appointments per week over a four to six-week period to start the healing process. The session is typically 30 minutes including an adjustment.
All you need to do is lay there while the machine does the work to help alleviate the pain. You can either lay on your back or stomach whichever is most relaxing for you. Hydration is a must for this type of therapy. Always remember to drink water before and after a Decompression session.
